Has anyone else experienced this??

I'm 34 weeks and I've had a cold since December 22nd and my doctor won't give me anything for it because he doesn't want to make the baby grow too fast. I've had a terrible cough and now my bottom ribs on one side are killing me. Small bumps in the road make me want to cry when In a vehicle. I can't lean on that side at all. I can't sleep on that side, or the opposite side I have to sleep on my back or sitting up because it hurts too bad. Is this normal? My hips and lower back have been sore just because of pregnancy, but nothing in compare to my ribs😭

Get a second opinion. That is ridiculous!!! Could be pneumonia at this point!!

You can break your ribs by coughing! A sick mom is not healthy for mom or baby, I would insist on further evaluation. Go to L&D/triage if you have to, but trust your instinct that something isn't right.

Just got over bronchitis. My doc recommended psudophedrine during the day and benedryl at night. I also bruised a rib very badly during a coughing fit and am still nursing it. Cold compresses help. 
Drink chamomile tea with honey and a little bit of cayenne pepper to soothe the itchy throat. Works temporarily, hopefully long enough to get you back to sleep. Also, I basically slept sitting upright for two weeks. Still do this when my hips are hurting.

I'd go back to the doctor or talk to your OB/midwife. My PCP has been a pain in the ass about meds while sick because I'm pregnant but my midwife usually will help out if I need something.

I don't know if most if most people are aware but after 25 weeks your OB or MW should become you PCP for the remainder of your pregnancy (according to my OB). I agree with everyone else,  you should definitely get a second opinion.

I had that around the same time I had a terrible cold that moved into my lungs. Dr gave me antibiotics and albuterol.  Feel much better now.

My doc said he would prescribe something once my ribs started hurting from coughing (haven't gotten to that point yet); maybe bring it up again?

I had a chest infection & had this but I got antibiotics for it so it's gone now :) rest lots!!,,
