Your experience with this?

I'm on birth control pills, and am skipping my placebo pills and started a new pack to skip my period because we are at a water park for the long weekend (my doctor said this was okay to do). I feel like this might be a silly/obvious question, but I still have to ask for my own peace of mind. Is it normal to still experience period symptoms when my period would've been here, and will this affect my next cycle?
