Pain in ovaries!

I may be late for my period but I'm not sure exactly. But anyways, if I am late then I am 4 days late and all day today I've been having extreme twinges in both my left and right ovary. They only last for about 10-15 secs but it feels like a tight pinch or squeeze & it's quite painful. Any ideas what this could be? It's not painful enough to the point where I can't stand it but if you're in the middle of doing something then it's enough to make you say "ouch" & keep it moving.
