My 4m old son is worrying me. I'm scared.

Last week (1-12-17) my son was in contact with a nurse whose hospital has had croup going around really bad. Today (1-15-17) he was inconsolable, crying for over an hour, nothing helping, around 6 he started having a barking cough, but I don't know if he has a fever or not cause his temporal thermometer keeps giving me temps ranging 98-100. I'm worried and scared. Help.

***UPDATE***: took him to his ped 1-16-17, He does have croup. They gave him a steroid shot, and suggested lots of fluids, steam, and cuddles.
