bc- the pill

so i'm thinking about starting the pill to hopefully calm down my period cramps , the first day of my period is so bad to the point where my body is shaking and sometimes i can't move for about 30 seconds because my body has cramped up and frozen. also the first day i bleed so much to the point where i wear a super plus tampon and a large overnight pad and i still leak through to my pad (tmi sorry). will the pill actually help with any of that ?? also i'm petty irregular does it help with that too ?? my period lasts about 3 days then like 2 days of spotting after , will it effect that ??
