cervical fluid while ttc

I took the bcp for 12 years and have been ttc for 4 months. Has anyone had any success tracking cm? Some articles read that not all women have cm that matches the 4 that are often listed. I find that mine can be deceiving in that it's usually creamy when my apps (Glow and Ovia) say I'm ovulating and like water way after my fertile window. I have never had ewcm or the clumpy sticky cm. Am I the only one who can't get a consistent read from their cm?
