Is this weird or am I just sensitive and hormonal?

So my boyfriends mother has been shooting down the names we chose, suggesting her own, interjecting her opinions etc. since she found out we're expecting. If that didn't irk me enough, today my SO said "my mom is excited mostly I think because she always wanted another baby, and almost had one with her boyfriend last year but they never did, and now she gets to have a baby." Is that super weird and irksome or am I just being sensitive and hormonal?

HA, What?! Lol, no. People need to stop using other people's babies and accomplishments to feel good about their unfulfilled lives.

Um she doesn't get another baby 😂 talk to your partner about that comment, that's a bit ridiculous.
But as for the names, just don't tell her anymore and keep it a surprise until your child is born ☺️☺️

When I had my first child with my husband my mother in law thought she was having a child. She was so excited. She had everything set up for him when it was time for us to come home from the hospital. She literally cried when I told her that I and HE were going home, not to her house.

You better tell her how it is right now. Trust me take charge right now. IT IS YOUR CHILD! 
As for the names, she has no say in what you name YOUR baby. So name the baby what you want and get it in her head that she's not having another baby. Trust me if you dont, its gonna turn to hell

It's not her baby though, it's yours. It's great that she's excited for you but maybe you can tactfully point out that ultimately the naming and everything else is your decision.

My mil told me the baby names we were considering were "so white". We ended up picking one of the names she didn't like and my husband completely put her in her place and told her to keep her trap shut lol. It got to the point where I didn't even care about hurting her feelings because she didn't care about having a filter when speaking to me. Just ignore what she says or make sarcastic comments in return and she will eventually get the hint. Sometimes you just can't be nice to people like that for your own sanity.

The fact that she is so excited shows that she will be a great grandma! So that's awesome! However, if I were in your situation, I would keep the name discussions between you and your SO. The name will not change the way she feels about the baby.

I don't know. The annoying bit is the names. But the being excited to "have a baby" is kind of sweet. Having family that will treat your child like their own, loving and that, is nice. I want my family and in laws to love my children as much as I do.

I'd tell her your keeping his name a secret until he's born since she seems not to like the ones you've chose. And I'd put my foot down about your baby the sooner the better.
