Metformin and pcos???

Question

So It was confirmed I have pcos but I don't think I have it as bad as others I'm not overweight I don't have acne, my blood levels where just a little high on my testosterone but they confirmed by the multiple cyst I had in my ovaries. The prescribed me 500mg of metformin. I'm just wondering if anyone has had any success with it and how long it took?

I have PCOS, and have been on metfomin since 2012. It has been extremely helpful for me.  It has helped my cycles shorten to normal amounts of time and I have gotten pregnant 3 times since I have been on it. One was a miscarriage, but I have a 3 year old son and am about to give birth to a daughter in a couple of weeks. Good luck.

I also have PCOS and I was also proscribed metformin for it a while ago. Metformin works different for everyone. For me, it made me have diarrhea everyday and extreme nausea everyday. The headaches would be so painful I couldn't get up from bed. 
For me, i don't think it did anything but torture me. :(

Good luck with metformin. I've heard some people get zero side effects and then their periods come naturally every month or every other month.

I now have to have 3-4 periods a year. And it's induced due to taking provera.

Make sure you are properly tested for insulin resistant. You need a glucose tolerance test with insulin draws. Ihave PCOS been on metformin since 2015. If insulin is causing you to not ovulate then metformin might help, but it is not an ovulation medicine. That's just a possible side effect

While Metformin main purpose IS for insulin resistance, it has become a common prescription for women with PCOS in regards to regulating their hormones and monthly cycles.
 
If your monthly cycle is irregular, then this COULD help.  Note that the first three months could be rough.  It isn't for everyone, but there are side effects (I had bloating, slight cramping, nausea in the am, and diarrhea ).  These faded within 2-3 months for me though.  
 
While I STILL didn't ovulate (that was my major issue), it DID help regulate my cycle from every 90-180 days to 32 days, which was nice.
 
A friend of mine with PCOS conceived both her son and daughter with just metformin.
