Baby girl has vaginal adhesion

Just took my daughter in for her 4 month check. The doctor told me she has a vaginal adhesion...her vaginal entrance is closed. Anyone else have a daughter with this issue? If so, what has your doctor told you to do/treatment wise? I'm just curious. Her doctor told me to put a diaper cream on a Qtip and gently apply pressure down the line where the adhesion is. It scares me to do this. She isn't having any issues.
