I painted baby furniture while pregnancy, we had the furniture outside for ventilation, I wore a mask and gloves

Painted the baby's room and just did my office we had the window open and fans going I'm going to refinish my son's dress before he gets here in June. I just do every thing with a lot of air flow .

It's safer if you can get a 0 or low VOC (volatile organic compounds) paint, we bought paint specifically for babies rooms so it's very safe. It will say on the tin or companies website the VOC levels. Other than that, wear cloves, long clothing, have the windows open as much as possible and you can wear a mask if you really like. Also don't keep open food or drink in the room . I always left the room when I was getting a head ache and hubby did the rest. 
Also....that might all sound extreme for some but I have less anxiety if I do things the safest way I know how. My doc also said it's fine but no laquers!

My mother & I painted a nursery while my mother was pregnant. There is a specific kind of paint that you can NOT be around but others that you can. Just ask your Dr. which is which. It's something like latex vs. another kind....? I'm not sure, but it is possible to paint safely while pregnant.

I'm an artist. Do you mean wall painting? I did it once for a mural about a month ago.
