Do you think it's okay to rest on your back? (18w)

I'm just trying to get a feel for this, and what other mothers are doing. I only sleep on my side, but I just wanna kick back while I watch TV sometimes. Any thoughts?

I sleep on my back until it becomes too uncomfortable. I trust my body to tell me when I can't do something any longer.

I lay on my back with my feet up it helps stretch my lower back out which kills me by the end of the day lately. Ugh I can barely moive. If it helps you feels good why not but it will get to the point where you belly will feel to heavy lol but till then why not

I personally don't lay on my back for rest or sleep mainly because I feel like I can't breathe when I do lol but I feel it all comes down to what's comfortable for you and baby.

I am 18 weeks too and I miss lying on my back! I prop a pillow behind me to one side so that I am a bit tipped.

My nurse old me it's only really a problem if you have high blood pressure or if you are an at risk pregnancy. We should try to lay on our sides most of the time but laying on our back some isn't an issue.

20weeks and i try not sleep on my back but I always wake up on my back anyway haha. But if im just relaxing, watching tv or knitting then I just make sure I move around a bit

I sleep on my back still, lay on the couch on my back too.

I alternate between my sides and back
While sleeping - my doc said it really isn't until much later that it could be problematic (like 33 weeks later) and then it will probably be so uncomfortable that I won't want to do it anyway.

I'm 20w and I sleep on my back almost every night. I wasn't aware that was a problem! Can anyone explain why it is?

Sometimes I wake up at night and find myself asleep on my back. And I wake up because I feel like I have a child sitting on my bladder...LOL! But really. It's just very uncomfortable for me. I think it would be perfectly fine for you to rest on your back for a little while. I mean after all, you lay on your back for exams at the doctor every month, and for ultrasounds. I wouldnt sleep the whole night that way, just because it can cause the blood flow to the baby to slow down too much.  (That's what I've heard anyway.) but if that relieves some pressure off your hips and legs for a while, I would definitely do that for relief for just a little while.
