spotting or period ?

I took a pregnancy test the day before my period came and it was negative , then my period came but it wasn't like any other period it was on time when usually it's late a day or two , my period only lasted two days and on the third day it was mostly spotting. The blood was like pink blood and sometimes dark . I have mild cramps and was very emotional. My period is usually 4 days long and is heavy at first and then light . But only the first day I had to change a tampon once. I don't want to get my hopes up or anything , I haven't had any other pregnancy symptoms yet . I'm trying so hard to wait until my next period.
