My cloth diapers will pay themselves in 8 months! 😁

A

I don't know if anyone cares, but I did the math this morning (as I couldn't sleep) now that my babes is 2 months old and I feel comfortable with my cloth diaper stash and wanted to share my excitement that it has worked out to lots of savings! Could also help if anyone is teetering on the line of cloth disposable. ☺

For 8 months my estimated cloth total is $638.43 and disposable is $685.20 - only difference is I don't have to buy more cloth! 😁

I have noticed no change in my water/power bill for laundry every other day (Ends up being 1 load of laundry every 2 days with regular laundry instead of 3 loads each weekend which is what I was doing before cloth - so it's basically the same). Only costs for cloth not included are the detergent - we are using tide powder but as I said laundry hasn't increased so we shouldn't be using any more detergent than we used to. If feeding formula or introducing solids one may want to buy a Sprayer for the toilet but that's only around $50 to add in.

I am excited that not only does my babes have the cutest fluff bums, we basically have free diapers beyond the 8 month mark! Before she is even walking! Anyways, I was just so excited about money saving and had to share 😁. Feel like such a lame mom for getting excited about diapers.

9 gene inserts/day

8 months = ~240days

2160 diapers

2640 wipes

I did the math based on the price of pampers swaddlers here in Alberta.

Size 1 for 2 months (60 days) @ $.18ea

Size 2 for 2 months (60 days) @ $.21ea

Size 3 for 4 months (120 days) @ $.24ea (obviously could be a size up closer to 6-8 months but hard to estimate size at this point so I won't bother, cost would only be higher)

Pampers natural clean wipes (210 days) @ $.04ea

Gene refills (210 days) @ $.03ea

Disposable Totals:

Size 1 for 2 months - $97.20

Size 2 for 2 months - $113.40

Size 3 for 3 months - $259.20

Wipes - $105.60

Gene refills - $64.80

Cost of 1 diaper gene - $45

Final Total: $685.20
