Medications and breastmilk
I have had so many frustrations lately with doctors not knowing whether meds interact with breastmilk! I hurt my back recently and they wrote me a prescription for cyclobenzaprine and then I got a terrible sore throat which they wrote me a prescription for benzonate or something. Every time I ask a doctor if there are interactions with breastfeeding, I get this look of confusion. They say, "ask the pharmacist" who also doesn't know and then I'm left with the message to pump & dump to be safe. It's so upsetting bc I already don't make enough milk to satisfy the baby and we have to supplement. They don't understand what a sacrifice it is to dump this milk! So I just haven't been taking the meds. I just wish there was better information out there to help us mamas keep giving breastmilk - lack of info does not make it any easier!
