IUD- 10 day period and counting???

Question

I just got my Skyla IUD on January 5th. My period this month started 4 days early with INTENSE cramps (like I couldn't get out of bed or move I was in so much pain) and I'm currently on day 10 of my period with a HEAVY flow each day and no signs of stopping. Before my IUD my periods were always SUPER regular and only lasted 4-5 days with light cramping. Is this normal or is something wrong with my IUD????

This is totally normal! Don't freak out. You got it sooo recently, your body is just adjusting, trying to figure out what to do with the object in your uterus and all the extra hormones. Give it time ☺ I got mine a few months ago and your body will chill out once it figures out what the heck is going on 💖

I have the mirena iud and I bled for about 6 weeks on and off when I first got it. I got it checked just in case and doctor said it was normal for my body to do that to regulate all the hormones and everything in the iud at first. Now I have light short periods. If it goes on for another week or so I would call and ask and possibly make an appointment. Since yours is a different kind of iud I'm not sure they all work the same and everyone's body reacts differently as well
