When did you start using stretch mark cream

Question

When did you start using stretch mark cream and do you have a favorite? I'm going on 5 weeks pregnant and read you should start using it right away. I bought palmers coconut butter and honest co belly balm? I just want to be cautious. I assumed the coco butter was okay to use, but the belly balm has sweet basil so I wanted to get input from other mamas and mamas to be!

I started as soon as I perceived any belly growth (probably around the end of first trimester). It can't hurt! At the very least, your skin will be nicely moisturized. I never understand why people comment on these topics saying "there's nothing you can do about stretch marks"-- first, I don't know at all if creams/oils can help, but other actions (like avoiding excess weight gain via diet & exercise, proper hydration, etc.) certainly can help; & second, I'm not sure how anyone could ever prove that creams/oils DON'T help ANYONE, so I see no harm in trying! May as well keep a positive attitude :)

On pregnancy #3 and I've always just moisturized like normal, after shower at night and in the morning before getting dressed. I've never gotten a single stretch mark on my belly. I use aveeno lotion and ponds face cream as my moisturizers, pregnant and not pregnant.

First baby- no marks 
2nd- COVERED
3rd- 30.3 weeks & no new ones. 
Drink lots of water!
Eat lots of veggies & exercise. Steady weight gain & the antioxidants help w elasticity. 
I get unrefined organic coconut oil from grocery store/health food store & spoon it into little squirty container. Put on bottom of shower while in there & it melts. Cover arms legs & belly w that, dry off excess. My belly looks Better than it did before! (I also add about a tsp of vegetable glycerin- available at any pharmacy. It pulls moisture from the air into ur skin.)
Ppl say it's hereditary, but my 2nd pregnancy I did not use oil & got marks so bad. So sometimes not being preventative DOES help!

Never used any. No strech marks anywhere. It's genetic.  No cream and no oil will stop them from coming if u are to get them. 
Creams and oils don't penetrate deep enough to help.  All they do is make your skin soft. Nothing to protect against them.

I bought the palmers tummy butter. I used it for 2 days and my stomach has broken out in a bad allergy rash. Going on 3 days and its not any better even after dr prescribed me ointment. So just be sure to test a small.patch of anything you buy for a few days first!

I have always suffered from stretch marks around my hip area so I was positive I was going to get them during pregnancy. I've never been good at moisturizing but I really didn't want a scared belly for the rest of my life so when I get out of the shower I put Bio-Oil around my whole torso and once I started to notice my boobs getting bigger I started using it there too. Doctors always comment how soft my skin is and no new stretch marks from the pregnancy... woohoo!

I started using palmers stretch mark massage lotion immediately once I found out I was pregnant. And then used that every day twice a day until I was around 22 weeks and since then I've been using organic coconut oil and cocoa butter. I'm 26 weeks now. No new stretch marks. This is my first baby but I did have a couple stretch marks on my side already to start with and they've actually faded quite a bit. I'll post a pic with this if I can find one in my photos
