Rent to boyfriend?

My parents brought up a really good topic. They said that I should not have to pay any sort of rent to my boyfriend and that even though we live on our own the man should always pay your way etc. We currently rent out 2 rooms in our household and we agreed that I would help with the cost of utilities. They also said that just me is the grand prize. Should I be charged to pay rent to my boyfriend? I am looking for other opinions on this and other people's views. Thanks!
