Were/are you satisfied with your IUD?

Question

If you had an IUD, were you satisfied with it? I got my IUD 4 months ago and I have been bleeding about 90% of the time since then, my cramps have been horrendous and sometimes bleeding has been so heavy I start to wonder if im losing an unsafe amount of blood.
This has been terrible BUT I haven't gotten pregnant and it is so great to have sex and not worry about getting pregnant.
But I also want to rip my uterus out of my body half the time.
I don't know what to do. I want to get my IUD out but I also want to hear from the rest of you who have had one- have you been satisfied with your IUD? Did it get better with time? Please do comment with encouragement or to tell me to get this thing out of my body.

I had mirena for 5 years after about two months in I stopped getting period and cramps all together till it was removed my period came right back to normal after removal

I've never had one, but I would talk to your doctor. Something could be wrong because bleeding that long isn't normal.

What kind do you have? I had Skyla and loved it... I had light spotting for about 3 months but wasn't anything to complain about. I had it for 2.5 years and loved it. My pms symptoms were less than they were when I was on the pill and I barely got a peroid.... I will deff do it again after I have a baby

I had the Mirena IUD for 4 years. When i first had it inserted, i had cramping because it was inserted during my period- i had bad PMS cramps too. It webt away after a week. For the first 3 months or so, I definitely had random spotting and long but light periods. Honestly, that kind of bleeding pattern is super annoying. Then it just normalized. I was one of the less lucky women with an IUD who continued to have a period every month. Bur all ny periods were light and only 5 days, and my PMS - both moods and physical symptoms- went away. For me the PROs were: no worrying about pregnancy,  no remembering to take pills, the highest efficacy rate for contraception, minimal PMS, and no impacts on fertility or ovulation (unlike birth control pills which stop ovulation while you are on them). I wanted to be able to try to conceive as soon as i wanted to. I got my IUD out last month to TTC#1, and ive been tracking ovulation- I ovulated this month! I am a HUGE proponent of the IUD.

Also, as a physician: I try to state facts and base this on data, but obviously this post is mostly about my personal experience. Birth control methods are variable experiences for everyone and  you have to choose the one that works for you :)

Never had one, but after 4 months I would think things would have gotten better... I would get it out asap. Sounds miserable
