when does the first trimester end and when does the second trimester start?!

Reading so many different things(saying 13 weeks is the start then some say 14) and it's just confusing me!

My doc said it's technically 13 weeks 3 day. That's why doctors round up or down

The word trimester literally means 'three months', tri=3, 3 months of 4 weeks each is 12.

I am going off of 14 weeks. That's what all my baby books say & my doctor said. Technically 13w3 days is 1/3 of the way but it makes more sense to me why they round up.
