Baby shower for 2nd baby?

Is it correct etiquette to have a baby shower for your second or more child? What if the gender is different than your first? Does this make it more acceptable?

We believe every baby is worth celebrating. You could always do a diaper party or something smaller if you didn't want to do a straight up baby shower.

I think it is okay IF:
•The second baby is the opposite gender as the first. (Or say you have two boys then a girl, you'd have a shower for the first boy, then a shower for the girl when she comes)
•there is a big gap between children, and you've given most of your baby/child things away already.

You could always have a gender reveal party if you wanted to have something, but people didn't want to give you a "shower" per say.

Celebrating a new baby shouldnt have etiquette! Throw a party, have some cake and celebrate with your friends and family if thats what you want to do! 😉

A lot of people will do a "sprinkle" if the second baby is a different gender.... but no, typically you have one shower for your first child and that's it.

Depends on your family/friends. My family celebrates every baby with a shower. Usually the first child is a huge affair and subsequent babies have smaller events. Do what you want 🙂

1. The second baby is another gender, no matter if the pregnancies are close together 
And 
2. There's a 3+ year gap between two babies of the same gender.

I'm probably going to get a case of the CBF but I was thinking of having one for this baby (#2). I'd like to ask people to bring things that can be donated to a local charity that provides baby goods to those in need. A great service! And we need very little as our first will only just be 2 when this baby is born.

Who cares? My daughter is 11 months, we're having another girl and my mom & I are throwing the shower. I'm a SAHM so planning it has been fun, I've used my photoshop skills to make up fun things for the games and I put together awesome gift bags for the winners. I also made a red velvet cake which made me feel very accomplished lol. I told people not to feel obligated to bring gifts but to bring a recipe they love to add to a little cookbook for our daughter when she's older.
