Water Birth???💦

Question

So having baby #2 end of July! This time around I opted to go for a midwife & try a more holistic approach. Which means no meds but I also would LOVE to go for a water birth! My midwife has done hundreds of them & she's calmed my nerves about it quite a bit. I still would love to hear other mommas stories though about water birth though! So if you have a story please share! ❤️

I had one for my first in 2014 and will 200% be aiming for another one. At the hospital in Sydney where I gave birth, every midwife is trained to do waterbirths and every room has a bath. I initially planned to get in the bath for early labour and then see how I felt, I wasn't against having drugs if I needed them. The midwife insisted though that I try to tough out early labour first and THEN get in the bath, which was a great strategy because by the time I was in bath there was nothing on earth that would convince me to get out! Not even the lure of meds! Water doesn't make the contractions any less painful, but it does help a lot to feel relaxed during those few mins (or by the end, few seconds!) that you get between contractions. I had no tears, no stitches, lifted my own baby from between my legs and put him on my chest and held him - it was natural and perfect! I say if you have the support of the hospital: go for it!
