Dealing with Toddler Separation Anxiety?

Question

When I dropped my son off at daycare today, he was screaming with his hands outstretched to me. It absolutely broke my heart. I am so excited to go pick him up right now.

But what can I do to ease his anxiety (and even mine too honestly)  in the future?

I taught preschool about 10 yrs ago. We would take a picture the first day of school of mommy and child, and then put it in the cubby so they always had a little piece of mommy around. I personally told my 3 yr old when I dropped him off at school that he would get a small treat if teacher said he had a good day with no tears

I've seen this a lot. I'm a teacher and every new school year the kindergarteners scream their heads off and after 2 weeks it stops. I think you taking him to preschool is great. He will learn lots, socialize and be prepared for kindergarten down the road😊 
Now, as to help him now: try leaving him pictures of you so that he can see your face all day. Try a good bye song at the door as your dropping him off. Try a blanket with your scent on it for him to nap with.

Good luck, I know it's heartbreaking. I've been there with my son.
