SBU President speaks out against ban of 7 countries

Eliza
So the President of Stony Brook hosted a rally in the center of the campus to calm any students who were worried about their visas because of the ban. He also promised to fight the ban because he believe it to be grossly unethical and detrimental to a lot of people, especially his students, faculty and staff. (A large chunk of the school is of middle eastern descent). This the article and some of the comments that stuck out to me.
A lot of my friends asked the question "Was this sort of rhetoric going on when students protested the Vietnam war, or protested for womens right or for civil rights?" What do you guys think of all this? Do you think people reacted in this way back then?
