Eating your placenta ???!??

Any of u ladies plan on eating your placenta ? I know it sounds weird but it seems to be a fairly popular thing now days. I watched a video on YouTube where this lady seasoned & fried hers as if it were a steak 😳. What are your thoughts ?

I'm acupuncturist and placenta encapsulation specialist. Placentaphagy has been done in Chinese medicine far longer than western medicine has even existed, and it's not the only culture that has had this practice, so it's not just the animals eating it the wild theory. Although most studies have touted that it had no medicinal benefits many of my clients have experienced a boost in milk supply, reduced emotionality and fatigue, and faster recovery times. Even if the effects are purely placebo, there's plenty of evidence of the power of placebo effects. I have also personally consumed my placenta via capsules and noticed a major difference in my energy level and mood on the days I did not take my pills. It's certainly not for everyone but I believe it works and believe the effects are more than placebo, after all the placenta contains hormones that would otherwise be eliminated from the body immediately after birth, such as oxytocin. It also contains red blood which can help balance iron levels that would otherwise be depleted after birth, thus helping to not develop anemia. Western medicine studies are sometimes not the be all end all, for example a recent study just confirmed that picking your baby up to soothe him/her does not in fact spoil thee baby but on the contrary helps to instill love, trust and independence in the child, why did we need a study done to confirm what our instincts have already told us? Because western medicine is obsessed with evidence based care which is not necessarily a bad thing, but not everything has a quantitative evidence behind it, like acupuncture...western medicine would tell you that there is no evidence behind acupuncture to suggest why it works, but it does, for many of my patients it has been the only thing that has worked. Just food for thought!

There's absolutely no medical benefits lol. People have this weird idea that animals eat it in nature for the nutrients. They eat it so predators won't know there's been a recent birth. So unless you're afraid your neighbors are going to come around with forks and a portable grill for your baby....

I'm doing the placenta encapsulation! I'm super excited about it! I have done tons of reasearch on it and have some friends that have tried it out. All good benefits from it so why not give it a try right? 😊

When I was pregnant my ob gyn that saw me through the whole thing told me theres no medical benefits to it. You have to remember its a viable organ that is no longer alive once its out of the womb. The midwife that delivered my baby stated the same thing.
