help me please!

Hello ladies, tonight my downstairs neighbor ( I live in an apartment ) just confided in me that her boyfriend/husband is beating her. I've reported them twice to management and they're on their final strike before they're kicked out. She told me she was sorry but sometimes he chokes her and beats her when he's upset. She's speaks broken English and I'm almost certain they have a baby together. I almost never hear the baby crying and honestly never knew it truly existed until yesterday when i heard it crying for the first time. Her words were "if you hear me screaming and crying, please call the cops on him." And all I wanted to do was cry and hug her. I told her that if he ever hurts her or she's afraid for her life to come running upstairs and I'll let her in and call the cops. I'm not afraid of some man. But I feel so guilty and so heartbroken for her. I know what its like to be in an abusive relationship where he's controlling, demanding and downright harmful. My mother was in an abusive relationship when I was just 5 and he held a gun to our heads and all sorts of things. Should I file something with the police in advance or what? I've never had someone confide something like this in me.
