IUD being fitted ..!?

After taking EllaOne (the pill) today, the doctor told me I'd be better off having an IUD fitted to be 100% I didn't have any unwanted pregnancies. She explained to me how the procedure would be done and then mentioned the local anaesthetic being injected. I am terrified of needles and I just want to know where this injection would be placed and if it hurts a lot..?
