Help me settle this argument!

My husband and I want to replace the flooring in the bottom story of our home. We live in a townhome, and it currently has  light tan carpet throughout. It stains easy, and we have a 2.5 year old and baby #2 on the way so we want to replace with laminate flooring. Our walls are currently painted a light beige color and our couch is a maroon/brown color, so I figured we'd get a dark laminate wood color. However, my husband wants grey wood laminate. I love the way it looks, but I told him we'd have to paint the walls because the beige would clash with the grey. I also suggested we buy a new couch faster than planned because it would also clash. He's completely convinced that the beige would look fine with the grey. Please tell me I'm not crazy, beings and grey do not match right?
