Anaphylaxis
Hi I am writing this to bring awareness on this subject. On Thursday last week I went into hospital to have a planned procedure to remove the lining of my womb.
At almost 30 years old I have had 6 other surgeries which all went according to plan. The surgery itself went to plan. As the surgeon was closing I was given a drug called volterol, within minutes of being given this drug I had an anaphylaxis reaction.
I woke up in icu with tubes coming out of everywhere and my family sitting at my bedside. Since then I have been filled in on what happened.
As someone who has no known allergies the doctor gave me an antiinflammation drug to help with the pain when I came round from the anaesthetic. This is what the doctor thinks caused the reaction. I have been told that I almost died on the table.
