I'm at such a loss!! π©ππ
Since my one month old was a week and a half or so he's been vomiting to the point of projectile multiple times a feeding, and at least massive spit up every feeding. Every time. 6 outfits and 4 blankets every day! He never ate without it happening. I kept telling his nurses and doctor but they said it's normal, and my mom told me I did that, too. Well on Sunday he started having diarrhea and by Monday night I just knew something was wrong so I took him to the ER. Turns out he was dehydrated from all the vomiting and the diarrhea! They tried to put an IV in each arm and blew out both veins, so NICU had to come down and put one in his head. This was he worst experience of both our lives!! I've never seen my baby suffer like that... and I had to do it all by myself because no one would come with us..
They went ahead and did an ultrasound to rule out a couple different stomach disorders and saw what they thought was pyloric stenosis. After that, they kept us there and started to plan a corrective surgery. They also put on on food restriction so he couldn't eat. To double check, they did another U/S only to say that no, it's not that. Mind you, this was 12 hours later. My baby went 12 hours with no food, only fluids!! They then told me I'm overfeeding him at 3 oz every 3 hours for an 8 pound one month old (he was born at 37w @ 5lbs10oz). So they said that's why he's throwing up so much. So now we're still here, 30 hours later, on a regimen of 2 oz every 2 hours and he's STILL vomiting almost just as bad as before.
I want to know what the hell is going on that's going to make a one month old vomit to the point of dehydration. That's NOT normal! I've considered going on an allergy diet (fruits, veggies and lean meats) to see if that helps since he's EBF. Other than that, I'm at a complete loss and honestly feeling like such a failure as a parent.
