If your baby was born under 6lbs but otherwise close to term and healthy, did he or she have to stay in the NICU to fatten up? 
I'm looking at possibly having to be induced at 37w5d (Valentine's day) due to the fact my son hasnt grown in three weeks (just fat, he's otherwise looking good. If he still hasn't grown by Tuesday, he's coming out) and he was estimated today at 5.75 lbs

Whether the baby is in the NICU or not really depends on how the baby is doing (in most cases it's for breathing issues). My cousin was just born full term but ended up in the NICU for two weeks because he inhaled formula and was having breathing troubles.

My son was 5lbs 15 ounces and didn't stay in nicu at all. I brought him home the very next day 😊😊😊

My little lady hadn't grown for three weeks due to growth restriction! And I had her at 35 weeks she weighed 5 pounds and they let me hold her for awhile then took her to the NICU just to examine her make sure everything was good she was only there for 4 hours then got to come back with me and we left two days later !:)

Depends on your hospital and drs. My local hospital used to be 4 lbs as long as they hold their own temp and drink from a bottle or nurse at every feeding

My friend had her twin girls at 37 weeks, they were both 5lbs1oz, no NICU time for them

My brother was born 5lbs 14oz, but was born at 41w3d. So not early like yours may be.

My friend had her baby at 36w exactly, & she was 5lbs8oz. She stayed in the NICU for about 24 hours (mostly as a precaution, & she had a little jaundice) & then was released to go home.

No. My daughter was born at 38 weeks exactly at 5lb14oz and discharged at 5lb6oz. She had no health or feeding issues so we were discharged at 48 hours.
