In case you can't read the news story, she immigrated here illegally when she was 14, that was 22 years ago. In 2009 she was arrested during an immigration check for using false papers to get a job and charged with identity theft, but she was not deported at the time because she was not considered a high priority. However, after Trump's new law went into effect, since she is a criminal, she is now being deported back. 
My personal opinion is she had 22 years to be here legally. If other immigrants can be legal citizens, why can't she? And 22 years is long enough. My boss came here 17 years ago and became a legal US citizen who pays taxes. Instead of waiting around and seeing what he could get away with without having to put in the effort, he did what he had to do to build a life the legal way here.

My husband is a legal immigrant. He's been here on a visa and then a work permit since he was 12 that he had to pay 700 dollars to renew. Two years ago we started applying for his citizenship through our marriage. We are not even finished with the process and have already shelled out over 7000 dollars with more to come. We have to pay another 2000 to the government by next month. That why while I don't condone illegal activity the whole "why didn't you just become a citizen by now" argument is pretty invalid... most people don't have that kind of cash just laying around to blow. Maybe they would if the government wasn't extorting so much money for it

Do you know the difference between a legal immigrant and an illegal one? The ones that are given citizenship have done proper paperwork, shown the proper documentation to prove who they are, taken the citizenship test, waited on a waiting list, and paid the fees. The ones who are here legally have done the leg work, are documented, pay taxes, and do what they're supposed to do. 
In her situation, she cannot file taxes and if she does she's done it illegally, she's stolen someone's identity, committed immigration fraud, and God knows what else. Had she done what she needed to do to be here legally she would've had no issues. Now because of the choices she's made she probably won't be allowed to apply for citizenship. She should be deported. She's had 22 years to apply for citizenship and hasn't. She broke the law and took short cuts to be here while other people work so hard to get here legally. It's not fair to those people.

When she moved here she was a child, so no she really didn't have 22 years exactly. The fear of being deported I'm sure scared her family and herself from trying to become a citizen up until 2009 when she found out she wasn't going to be deported. So she has 7 years to get her papers. It can cost up to 1000$ to become a citizen. And from what it's posted she worked at a water park? So min wage.  Did she have family she was paying for? Medical expenses? She could he living pay check to pay check. The process to become a citizen is a long one and plus she needs the money. Easier said then done. And it's easier to judge and say she had her chance, but was she in this long hard process of becoming a citizen when she was deported. Maybe if it was easier to become a citizen she would still be here, her home, with her family.

She has had a long time to start the process, she had enough time to take somebody's identity. While being an illegal immigrant is just a civil issue, taking somebody's identity is definitely a criminal one. She needs to be deproted. And who knows, she may have ruined her chances at ever being able to become a citizen here. What would happen to me if I took somebody's identity? I'd be in jail or prison, right?

I know it's expensive and difficult to become a citizen, and maybe we should address that, but people do it every day. Having it be difficult or expensive didn't get in the way of those people. Are there any countries that just let you walk in?

Well guess she should have became legal, instead she took the time to steal other people's identities. No one to blame but herself. We don't just get to pick and choose what laws we want to break and think it's perfectly acceptable. #sorrynotsorry

Becoming a citizen is so much harder than most people think. If you know someone that became a citizen "as easy as that" then he/she was LUCKY. It costs thousands of dollars and takes years. It's like basically trying to buy a house with a minimum wage job and starting from nothing. Actually getting a house is MUCH easier than becoming a citizen. My husband has been here for 24 years and he's still a resident.

I think it's ridiculous to deport anyone that came here as a minor. I'm glad that your boss was able to get citizenship, but not everyone has the same opportunities. Citizenship is a difficult expensive process, and if she was arrested for working it doesn't sound like she was just sitting around on her ass thumb twiddling. I'd much rather deport that asshole Joe Arpaio.
