Should I call the doctor?

My baby occasionally tugs on his right ear. I thought it might just be because he likes grasping anything and everything right now, but I just noticed him pressing his shoulder against his ear, too. He's not showing any other signs of pain or discomfort. I've read that this could be a sign of an ear infection. Do you think I should call his doctor?

My baby pulls on his ear when he's tired and it's a new habit (he must have just found them). I had our dr check it out yesterday at his 6 mo Appt and his ears are clear! If there's no other signs of infection, don't worry!

I would think he would have a fever if he had an ear infection

At my sons last apt, I asked about checking his ear. He tugs on it a lot and scratches at it. The doctor told me it was normal. She said if he had more hair on the side he would probably pull his hair. But it doesn't hurt to ask

Babies will hold or tug their ears when teething as the pain goes up their jaw by their ears

Never know with babies. We took my son for bronchiolitis and he has a double ear infection too and we had no signs.

Yes call to be sure but it could also be:
1) over tired 
2) teething 
You know your baby better than anyone. If baby is acting abnormal (not eating, not sleeping, sleeping too much, extra fussy) then it's time to call the doc.

Interateing my daughter is 6 months and was doing the exact same thing!! She has been teething like crazy and was going this and it was framing me out I was worried it was an ear infection and two days later up popped a tooth!

I've worked with children under one for 4 years before I had my baby, and it's usually a sign of an ear infection 90% of the time. But it could also be teething. But would definetly take your LO in just in case. Ear infections 😭
