Sleepwalking/standing
Hey ladies, I need some advice. My husband is a very active sleeper, and he sleepwalked his entire life. My son seems to be similar. When he began crawling, he would crawl around his crib... with his eyes closed or kind of half open. It looked like he was asleep though. It was harmless and kind of funny.
Then he learned to stand, and began sleep standing in the crib. We immediately put a top bumper on the crib too, because he would fall right away (since, you know, he's asleep) and WHACK himself hard. That didn't help much, because there were still areas of the crib that were wood and he would still fall over and hit himself.
Playpen sleeping, similar problem. Even though the sides are mesh, when he is completely asleep he would stand, take a few steps, and whack himself on the way down.
We let him co-sleep, and he will actually stand in our bed and just stand on the along the headboard before flopping over.. but at least this way we can grab him and he doesn't hit himself.
Have any of you gone through this as your babies learn new skills? Is this normal or is he a sleepwalker like his dad? What would you do?
