"Your life is over when you have kids!"
💜Though my title may sound extreme, this is pretty much what is said indirectly to us by so many people. (Not always of course) Mind you, I do understand that everyone is entitled to feel how they feel. It's just when it's excessive or often. We are both soon to be 36, married for almost four years and TTC for just over a year and a half. Rather than the majority of people encouraging us, we hear these types of comments very often:
1. Life is so hard once you have kids
2. Don't rush because things will change dramatically.
3. We can't do anything like we use to.
4. We can't go have fun alone like we use to like you guys can. (Not these exact words)
5. I wish we could sleep in like you etc etc.
-Often times, some parents sound straight out miserable being a parent. Don't get me wrong. I do understand that being a parent is difficult; though I am not a parent myself. I am a kindergarten teacher (11 years of teaching) so I do understand more than most that don't have kids at this time. It is common knowledge that there are many changes that come along with having children. I also know that some people are just speaking out of frustration or other reasons that is not typical of them. Also, unfortunately, some may be experiencing things such as postpartum. So I am not referring to people like this. I just wish that more people would share more of the joys, triumphs, blessings and happiness that comes along with being a parent. 💜
