VAGINA AND SEX MYTHS DEBUNKED.

Caitlin.
I see these all OVER this community and just wanted to share some truth with anyone who didn't know / thinks differently. .
••• "You can have a period while pregnant."
No, you can't. You can spot. You can bleed. Whatever. You can even spot intermittently and it will resemble your period. It's not a period. You cannot get your period while you're pregnant. Stop.
••• "You only get pregnant if you have sex the day you ovulate."
Nope. Sperm can live inside the vagina for *up to a week (Thank you for the correction). That means you can get pregnant if you're not currently ovulating. Sure the chances are SLIMMER, but you can get pregnant. An egg can still be fertilized for a very short amount of time after ovulation as well.(24 Hours, thank you again for the correction/completion.)
••• "Precum can't get you pregnant."
Wrong. Precum containing sperm CAN get you pregnant. If there's sperm in it, you can get pregnant. (Not all Precum has sperm but if you've ejaculated without using the restroom between sex, the Precum will contain sperm.)
••• "Abstinence isn't the only method of birth control that is 100% effective."
Birth control pills fail for numerous reasons. Counteractive medicines, or just out of the blue. Condoms break. The pull out method practiced 100% correctly can still fail. ^Precum, ladies.
••• "The more people you have sex with, the looser your vagina is."
Uh. If you have sex with 100 different people once, 50 different people twice, or 1 person a hundred times, it doesn't matter. Your vagina is not going to stretch out and get loose like a mop bucket. People push out big ass babies and their vagina goes back to normal. A little 4 inch penis, or 100 4 inch penises are not going to make you "loose."
••• "'Virgins' can't get yeast infections, bv or UTIs."
5 year olds can get UTIs and yeast infections. "Virgins" can get bv. Stop.
••• "Everyone bleeds their first time having sex."
No, they don't. Some women do. Some women don't.
••• "Having sex in water means you can't get pregnant."
Yeah, okay, good luck with that.
••• "You can only get pregnant in missionary."
Sureeeeee.
••• "It's impossible to get pregnant from having anal sex."
Sperm can travel from your anus to your vagina. You're not 100% safe from pregnancy. Although the chances are like 1 in a billion, it's possible.
••• "The Plan B pill is 100% effective.
I bet we all wish it was. $60 is a lot, but it's not always effective. It only reduces the risk of pregnancy by 89%.
••• "You can't get pregnant on your period."
Some women can. If your period lasts 7 days and you ovulate on day 12 of your cycle, then there's a chance you'll end up pregnant.
••• "I can't get pregnant if I'm a virgin."
You can get pregnant the day you lose your virginity. It happens.
••• "You can't orgasm if you were raped."
Your body's reaction to physical stimuli is natural. Some women orgasm when they are raped. It doesn't make it consensual. Your. Body's. Natural. Reaction. Does. Not. Equal. Consent.
••• "I can't get an STD/STI if we wear condoms."
Herpes, public lice, syphilis, etc are spread through skin-to-skin contact. A condom does not always prevent ALL skin-to-skin contact.
••• "STDs/STIs only transfer through penetrative sex."
Oral sex and skin to skin contact can result in the contraction of an STD/STI. Oral sex involves skin to skin contact and bodily fluids.
••• "Everyone should use feminine wash so their vagina doesn't smell."
Naturally, your vagina cleans itself. Repeating that: VAGINAS ARE SELF CLEANING! Feminine wash can cause your pH balance to become, well, unbalanced. Your vagina's natural smell shouldn't be "gross." And it shouldn't be gross to you either. Vaginas smell like vaginas, roses smell like roses.
••• "Eat pineapple before your partner eats you out so you'll taste better."
Sorry but eating pineapple or bathing in cranberry juice right before engaging in oral sex won't change anything. Lol.
••• "You shouldn't have discharge all the time."
Some people do. Some people don't. MOST discharge is normal. Remember when I said vaginas are self-cleaning? That's part of the process.
••••Okay, I can't think of anything else but feel free to add more or to correct me if anything I said is incorrect and please give me a source proving that I am so I can edit the post. Thank you!•••••
(I already posted in CC. But I think it would be a good post to have in here too.)
