Eating placenta...?

Okay so I have a co worker that says she is going to put her placenta into pill form and take it and I heard of some people frying it up and eating it... what does this benifit to you? It just sounds down right nasty to me...

Helps a lot with replenishing nutrients lost during birth, like iron levels. Also research has shown it helps decrease the chance of postpartum depression among other benefits. Those two I can name off the top of my head.

I always wanted to put mine in capsules, but upon doing great research it can be pricey and there really isn't much benefit. Animals eat their placenta in the wild (or captivity) to hide from predators, they also eat their youngs feces to do the same as they are easy targets.

It is gross IMO. There is no scientific evidence that a human digesting their placenta is beneficial only speculation. Women have actually gotten sick from this because any infection in your body during pregnancy lives in your placenta. But believe what you want. Do your research before deciding and don't just ask women on this app. Good luck.

I'm encapsulating it (making pills). It's got a ton of nutrients in it, most mammals eat the placenta after birth to gain strength. It's not for everyone, I'm not squeamish at all so I figure what's the harm.

My doctor recommended placenta encapsulation because it can help with iron levels, with stabilizing mood and hormones after, making your bleeding lighter, and helping lactation. I wouldn't just eat it personally. I especially wouldn't cook it because I feel like it might lose some of its beneficial properties in cooking

I hired a doula and they offer this service... I declined but i wonder if i should have.... They say its like an ancient woman secret lol

There's a ton of nutrients in it. For pill form it's first dehydrated then encapsulated and stored in the freezer. The number one reason I know of is it can prevent postpartum depression. I plan on doing it.
