Disappointing Birth Experience Normal or Not?

Marissa
Hello! I just had my first little one 6 weeks ago and unfortunately ended up with a c section. We knew it would be a c section, but I felt very blindsighted. I was given very little info going in and ended up with 14 painful tries at getting the spinal block in and then a retained placenta was found 2 weeks later. Although both I and the ER Dr called the practice, my doctor wasn't aware of the complication. In fact, my Dr thought she did the c section when it was one of her associates. In the hospital my husband and I took care of my newborn 100%, the nurses never even looked at her. I remember having so much trouble getting out of bed to get my baby after the section... And then, nobody told me what to do or not to when I got home! Thank goodness for Google or I would have been driving, lifting things etc. Even yesterday at the 6 week my doctor just told me she would see me at my annual appointment. I guess I'm wondering if this is a normal experience? Am I supposed to do my own research? Or am I being a baby?
