So i got raped and i was a virgin before that. My sister said that means my virginity is gone but is she right?

Virginity is a social construct. You did not consent to losing your virginity, therefore you still have it.

As for your hymen, it doesn't always break the first time. It may take a few times, or may have broken beforehand (athletics, being fingered, etc.)

Nobody can take your virginity, it's something you give away. I'm sorry you had to experience being raped, but don't blame yourself for anything, and own your body again.

Technically, you lose your virginity when your hymen is broken or you have been penetrated. But things like tampons can also cause you to "lose your virginity" without any sexual encounters. So that is a very flawed definition.

I think most people prefer a more spiritual definition like - when you have sex for the first time, of your own free will (whether you have a hymen or not).

If you don't want to count that experience as losing your virginity - which is totally understandable - then go ahead and do so. ❤

Virginity is a social construct therefore it doesn't exist in a way. You can't see it or hold it. If you want to be considered a virgin then you are one and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Side note: the whole 'popping your cherry' is bs. Your hymen can break in my ways not just through sex so a broken hymen does not define wether your a virgin or not. Other wise I'd have lost my virginity to dance with us impossible 😂

I mean technically no. But if u didn't consent (obviously) then u didn't lose it. A "sexual encounter" to me , REQUIRES consent. Where as a SEXUAL assault (obviously) doesn't.

Technically, if he "popped your cherry" you are not a virgin anymore. Which is terrible. It's like you've been robbed of something that should've been your decision to lose. I was raped too, and I always told people I was a virgin. I didn't care if I wasn't "technically". In my mind, he didn't count. It was against my will and there was nothing I could've done to stop it. So, if you ask me, I lost my virginity to the love of my life. I try not to let what happened affect me anymore and that was my first step. I'm really sorry for what happened to you.
