i'm in love with my best friend. help

sorry this might be long: so over the summer i met this guy and we became incredibly close. he lives about 25 minutes away and i see him almost every weekend. sometimes we hang along and go for long drives at night, sometimes it's a one of our friends that we both know, and other times it's with his school friends who i know through him. i have realized i liked him since the end of the summer but recently those feelings have gotten much much stronger. seeing him happy is the best thing ever and i literally only want him to be happy. it would be amazing if that was with me but if not i could live. what can i do because i don't want to ruin our friendship by telling him how i feel, but i also want to know if the feelings are reciprocated. plsss help me here!!!!!
