Postpartum non-hormonal IUD

Looking into BC without hormones. I used the pill for a number of years before getting pregnant. I'm 13 months postpartum and was put on Nuvaring at 6 weeks appointment. I was mean, nasty, hateful, and depressed. I quit using it and now am in desperate need of something because I'm in so much pain during period and even a week before I have horrible back pain. My cycles are so irregular and periods are heavy in addition to being painful....schedule an appointment with the doctor soon and looking at my options. TIA for all your in put about your experiences! Definitely scared due to all of the horror stories I've read about on the IUD.
