I've been wondering if anyone on here knows or has hiv and how did they find out? Did you have symptoms? What made you get tested? How often should someone get tested? I literally know nothing about std testing and want to be profecient before I become sexually active.

Get tested after you have sex with someone new/ before you have sex with another person. If the person youre with cheats, get tested.

It's actually a very good thing that you want to make sure you are safe before having sex. I'm actually proud of you for that! Now it's best to get tested every single time you have sex with someone new. Be careful though as there are people out there who don't get tested often so make sure to wear protection. There are actually many clinics that will do STD testing for you so check out your area. Overall I highly recommend you try to be with someone who has never had sex first. It's safer for you in the long run but again remember every new sex partner you got to get tested. Good luck!

I don't have nor have I ever had any STI. But you should get tested fairly regularly depending on how many sexual partners you have. I only sleep with people I'm in an committed relationship with so I've only been tested twice. Both after my relationships ended. And when I got back together with my boyfriend I asked him to get an STI test before we slept together again since he'd slept with someone else while we weren't together. For me I think you should get tested between sexual partners at the very least.
