What IUD should I get?

Question

I don't want a bunch of hormones because I already PMS pretty bad, I'd prefer that my periods stay around 5-7 days long, and I haven't had any children nor do I want any in the next 3-5 years. I'm sort of leaning towards skyla or paraguard. Suggestions?

I was in a similar situation, and I didn't want a lot of hormones so I asked my doctor about paragard and she said it would hurt really really badly, and it would be super hard to insert because I'm young and haven't had children. Skyla on the other hand is made for people who haven't had kids, and it's much smaller and easier to insert. I ended up getting Skyla, and it hurt a lot so I'm really glad I didn't choose paragard because I know I wouldn't have been able to handle it. So from my experience I'd recommend Skyla, but ultimately it's up to you and your doctor. And your pain tolerance might be better than mine so you might be fine with paragard.

Paragaurd is great, but I would suggest you talk to your doctor before you decide because everyone's different. I got paragaurd because I have depression and panic disorder and hormones in bc make it worse and paraguard is the only 100% hormone free option of bc. I love it though!

Fair warning with the paraguard. Yes it is hormone free, but it makes PMS worse and lengthens the periods of some women who are on it, so it could happen to you.

Im on paragard and never had kids and honestly insertion hurt like a bitch and i had the worst cramping for two days but lm fine now, 5 days later. It made my period 3 days late but other than that no weird symptoms. I didn't even know i was gonna get ly period for this month because i had no pms changes (no hormones) and i'll go as far as saying i basically skipped pms this month. Idk it's only been 5 days but im loving it so far.

I got paraguard, not interested in having children... and not interested in pumping my body with hormones. 
It didn't hurt and I've never had children. (Aside from the cramping) my dr. Was awesome and made me feel comfortable while getting it in. Super easy, and almost painless ! (I just got it today btw)

I have mirena and I honestly love it. It works for up to 6 years and I've had virtually no problems to be honest. My periods were irregular at first but now their super small and usually come about every six weeks( my doctor says this is normal). I get it for usually fivish days and spot lightly for another 1 or 2. Some women on mirena experience no period at all.
