Six week old milk allergy?

My dd spits up frequently. It doesn't bother her and she's gained almost four pounds since birth. She's far from colicky and sleeps well. My oldest NEVER spit up so I don't know what amount is considered normal. They were/are ebf. I brought up the fact that she has been spitting up and her pedi just automatically said to cut all dairy out. Did any of your babies spit up regularly and it was just normal? No rashes, colic, excessive gas just a "happy spitter"? I have a hard enough time getting my four year old to eat. If I cut out all dairy she might not eat at all.

My girl has acid reflux and is exactly how you describe your LO, a "happy spitter." She is 7 months now and it's definitely improving but she still has bad days even now, but I was told as long as she was gaining weight and happy and didn't seem like she was in pain, that it was just a laundry problem and not a medical problem and that she'd grow out of it. When she was a newborn she would go through 10+ onesies a day, not to mention bibs and burp cloths. But she was still happy and it just didn't seem to bother her, so my ped never put her on meds and I didn't change my diet. Honestly a big reason I didn't want to change my diet is because I have a big freezer stash of milk and I didn't want to feel like I had to throw it out because I had been eating dairy or whatever at the time I pumped all that. But like I said, she is gradually outgrowing it so I don't think diet mattered. It started getting better when she started sitting up well on her own, apparently gravity helps keep her food down and I think starting solids may have helped a bit in that dept too. I know it sounds overwhelming to say you might be dealing with this till LO is 6+ months but hang in there. Things I found that helped a bit when she was younger was holding her upright after feedings (as often as possible really, she napped on my chest a lot so that kept her at an incline), burping her often and just being careful not to overfeed her but breastfed babies are pretty good about not eating more than they need. My daughter has a cows milk protein and soy protein allergy. She didn't spit up much, more gas, screeching, tummy issues, and sleeplessness. It would think you'd see more symptoms besides reflux with an allergy. You could always as for a referral to a pediatric GI if you feel like things aren't improving or you see a dip in weight.
