Can you wear a black dress on a church wedding?

I will be attending a wedding of my friend next week and i bought this dress. But my boyfriend said i should not wear black because it looks like i'm mourning. Is a black dress really inappropiate for a church wedding? Should i ditch this dress and buy a new one? Thanks in advance for the comments ladies! ❤️❤️❤️

I wore a black dress to a fairly non-traditional wedding, and although it wasn't a big deal, some people did comment on it. Maybe ask the bride or someone close if it's appropriate?
