Is the American dream still realistic?

You know the family, the white picket fence, the owning the house and cars, living comfortably on one income?

I feel like with this economy, it's harder than ever to achieve.

I absolutely HATE when someone in their 60s says "when I was your age, I had...." because there's a difference. Just the value of a dollar is crap. Something that costed 20 dollars in 1994 costs 33 now. I work in a gas station and just the past couple months has seen the price of food go up 20 cents. It's expensive to live now.
