Is it too much to ask your husband to help out around the house?

My husband is constantly complaining when I need him to help me out a little bit every day, no matter how I ask him. It gets on my nerves so much and I'm at my wits end.

We married each other a bit later in life than most,  29yrs and We've both lived on our own since 18. I never have to ask him to help,  he never has to all me to.  He makes boatloads more money than I do,  and I'm home more than he is.  When something needs done,  inside or outside,  we take care of it.  I do most the cooking,  but if I'm tired,  he will do it without complaint.  We complain and groan to each other about having to be an adult,  and we might put off chores for a day or 2 every now and then.
You are a team.  Even if you're a SAHM, that's still a job.  He can click in and out of work,  but Stay At Home Parents freaking LIVE at work; its 24/7/365, no sick days or vacation.  You absolutely should expect his help.  Marriage isn't my life, my home, my bills, its Our life, our home, our bills.

Does he love there and contribute to the mess?
If your answer is yes then it's his duty to do house work too.
He's not helping you...he's doing his fair share.

I am not my husbands maid. It might be different because we both work full time, but my husband does his own laundry, does at least half the cooking, and does half of the cleaning. He never complains.... it's just what works for us.

Nope, not at all too much to ask. He lives there and contributes to the mess, so he has the responsibility to help out. You should be a team. It doesn't matter if you're a SAHM (come on, all us mommies (and daddies) know that is more than a full time job, and just as hard, if not harder, than working outside the home), if he makes more, or works more - he needs to contribute to housework. Somehow I don't think you signed up, or vowed to be his maid. Just my 2 cents 😆

I don't ask him very often. His job is trash and cat litter box. But he has been helping out more now that I'm pregnant and just a few weeks away from my due date and was really sick the first trimester. So occasionally he'd do dishes or move laundry for me. Tries to keep his stuff picked up so I don't have to do it, because I'm starting to run out of energy and bending over is becoming a challenge 😂

If you are both working... then he should be contributing around the home.

My husband works 40+ hours a week, goes to school and still manages to find time to do ALL of our laundry, clean the cat boxes, and he takes out the trash/recycling. He does it all without a single complaint. He knows how much I HATE doing laundry, I haven't had to do it in 7 years!

I'm a stay at home mom so I dont ask him to help much. Actually I don't ask him to help at all other than taking out the trash. I think if you're a stay at home mom, there really shouldn't be anything left for him to help with. If you both work than obviously he should help out around the house too.
