HSG, the good, the bad? real opinions please

If I get my period this week (please don't),  I will have to schedule an HSG at Kaiser. I wish we didn't have to go this route. I would love to hear anything about your personal experience with the HSG. Thanks! Baby dust to everyone here as always!

Everybody has a different experience but I definitely siked myself out reading about everyone's on here. Mine was Feb. 3, 2017 and it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected it to be. Mine was preformed by a radiologist (some people say their regular OBGYN will do it.) It was a little bit of pressure for about 5-10 minutes max but I wouldn't say painful really. He made me roll on both sides to get the dye to go through. All of the dye shot through my left tube immediately and none through my right. Radiologist wasn't concerned and called my results normal (got to hear his take on my test results immediately so that's a plus.) He told me that my right tube could have been "spasming" or perhaps the dye just took the path of least resistance. I had a few cramps for about an hour or two afterwards but nothing unbearable. About a week later my regular doctor called me back and said that the radiologist's opinion could be correct but she seemed to think that my right tube could very well be blocked and recommended that we start on Clomid the next cycle to insure that both ovaries would ovulate. Everyone tells you that the dye will kind of clean out your tubes and make you extra fertile for the next few months. We didn't have any luck the first cycle after HSG but now we're onto our 2nd cycle and still holding out hope! I chose to wait until May to begin Clomid. Hope this helps!!
