How much did your engagement/wedding ring cost?

If you're not married yet just put the amount for the engagement ring. I'm curious - this isn't something I can ask my friends but I've always wanted to know. Rings sure seem expensive. It doesn't matter of course as long as it is a cherished symbol of your love.

Free. He proposed penguin style at the coast, with a pebble (since people usually ask what penguin style means.) Yes we had/have money for a "real" ring, but this gesture was much more true to who we are as individuals, and as a couple.

I designed my own engagement ring; my husband gave me a budget of $2000. We bought it from BlueNile.com, they let you build your own ring and you can set it to own budget. It's a 0.5 carat diamond with a white gold band, everything in all costs about $1300. They are whole sale which is why it's less expensive, if we were to have it got elsewhere, it would have been closer to $3000.

Our wedding bands came from Etsy and they cost $100 for both mine and his. They are silver and are Star Wars themed. Mine says "I love you" and his says "I know." 2 years later, they're still silver.

He had seen some of my other friends engagement rings and was worried that the Diamond he got me "wasn't big enough" and told me to upgrade. I refused because I'm not into big, flashy jewelry and I'd rather use that money for something better.

My engagement ring means a lot to me because at that time my husband and I both weren't making a lot of money... he had to pay rent, car insurance, etc and I had no idea that all the times he wanted to stay at home, to not eat out, etc was because he was saving to buy me my ring.
