How long did it take for your period to lighten or stop after you went on the depo shot? (if it took longer than 3 months comment how long)

I'm going on the shot next month (per my parents' orders) and I was wondering how long it takes for your period to lighten/stop. I've tried telling my parents of the negative side effects from the shot, but they're not budging. They say I'm not responsible enough for the pill but they think that I NEED to be on BC. Hoping it at least takes my periods away!

It took six months before I stopped having it.

But I advise against it. There's other long term solutions out there that aren't the pill. I was on it for almost 4 years. I gained SOOO much weight, lost my sex drive, and it accelerated my depression/anxiety that I was already experiencing. I planned on committing suicide before I graduated college last spring.

Please research and talk to your parents. It's not the best option for everyone and your health should always be top priority. 💞

I had my period for 6 weeks straight and then didn't have my period for a year and a half. And I only got one shot! It also made me angry all the time and just turned me into a complete bitch. If I were you, I would not get it.
