Sleeping thru Tummy time?

Question

At times my 10 week old will have a tummy ache due to gas and I'll roll her over on her tummy. She might cry for a minute or two and then fall asleep. She looks much more comfortable. She'll usually pass gas after a couple minutes, too. Question is, is she ok to sleep like that? I watch her constantly and move her after 5-10 minutes.

Just discovered my 12 week old does this too and it's been the only way he's fallen asleep easily for naps lately. I move him onto his back after 15 min. and only my husband and I let him do it. Won't tell anyone else the secret to good naps (grandmas, nanny, etc.) because we watch and move him as soon as we know he's really asleep, but don't know if others would be as vigilant. As long as baby is being watched while they're like that it should be okay. It's the leaving unattended that could lead to something going wrong, but you said you watch her so you're good! Trust your instincts and do what's best for YOU and baby.

My LO slept only slept on her tummy for the first several weeks. Totally ok!

My son sleeps in his tummy all the time. So did my other two kids. I just make sure there's nothing around his head abd he's being watched of course. To each there own.

It goes against safe sleep guidelines but if it's not for too long and your watching I see no issue, I've heard they prefer it because they can go into a deeper sleep but that's why it increases the risk of SIDS. I think we all do though!

I think she'll be just fine :) My boy makes me nervous like that. He's been rolling over almost since he was born. I lay him down on his back and he rolls on his side or tummy. During the day I just check on him constantly. His naps are usually in the carrier any ways. At night he sleeps with me. I'm a really light sleeper and really in tune with him. I wake up when I feel him move and he's fine every time.

I notice that's it's easier for my LO to pass gas when she is on her tummy. I've started laying her face down during the day because one side of her head is flat. I'm paranoid though, so I don't leave her side when I put her down in that position. At night she always sleeps on her back.  I think if you're vigilant she will be fine.

The problem with letting them sleep on their tummies is that they go into a deeper sleep (likely because it's more comfortable) and that deep sleep is where SIDS can occur. And their sleep cycles are only 45 minutes so they get into that deep sleep very quickly. Just food for thought.

I've let my LO sleep on her tummy plenty, I'm always there to watch her. I'm much more comfortable sleeping on my stomach too 😄
